Artist's Comments

Advertisements set the cultural standards of beauty.

Asians are a highly under represented minority. Where are we in the media? If we're not doing martial arts or fitting some other stereotype, we're invisible.

And if we are invisible in the media, then are we outside the cultural defintion of beauty?

Do all things change with time? Have things changed in the past 10 years. Will your photography help bring about more change?

Beautiful work. MLS

The change I would say, has been minimal if at all. Hopefully, I can at least bring just a tiny bit more of awareness :)

Thank you for your words.

Is that true? It seems to me that there are quite a few Asian women in print. Or maybe it's just that I notice them, since Asian women are probably the most beautiful in the world.

"Are we lost, Daddy?" I asked tenderly.
"Shut up," he explained.

I think that is all any of us can accomplish in a single life time. MLS

I live in South Korea, and in this country, they know what beautiful is (as do I). As you can imagine, ALL of the print media is Asian women, and they ARE beautiful. I think that when it comes to print media in the US, minority representation in the media is probably somewhat proportional to its representation of the population. For example, the largest "minority" represented in US print work is the African-American, secondly, probably Latina, after that Asian, and other minorities fall in after that... How many middle-eastern, or east Indian, or Polynesian, or Greek, or Jewish women do you see in print? All of them are beautiful, and all looks have something exquisite to bring to the table :)

You are a beautiful example of Asian elegance yourself. I hope that you manage to continue bringing consciousness to the masses about your cause :)

Hmm... I've noticed Asian culture has been becoming more and more widely popular as of recent. Maybe it's just me... I look for it, so I find it easily. But you're probably right about the stereotypes - when Asians are represented in mainstream, it's most often as either jung-fu masters or geishas or other such thing. And I do very much agree, Asians are the most beautiful people in the world. You're a shining example. :)

 Nicely done! I knew what it was about without reading the description, so you've definitely told the story with the picture.

Is it a sign of insanity that I get happy over compliments from Stockers? No. A stock photo, just like any other medium, takes a great deal of talent & skill to do right. Stockers are artists, too. Dammit! :shakefist:
